One of the challenges people frequently talked about in our Records Management survey last year was managing physical records in ever decreasing physical space. Dealing with a large number of paper records can be overwhelming, and the increasing volume of files can bring disorganization, privacy concerns and workflow issues. This post is intended to let units at UBC know that the Records Management Office provides a secure and affordable storage option for university records.
The RMO offers managed storage for your department/unit’s paper records at L-PARC which stands for Library Preservation and Archives. PARC is located at UBC Vancouver’s South Campus, and is managed by the RMO. Boxes containing business records can easily be scheduled for pickup, delivery, storage, retrieval (should you need them back), and when the time comes, and with your approval, secure destruction. PARC is an on-site secure, climate controlled modular storage facility that can house your unit’s records freeing up space in your office. The records managed at PARC still belong to the originating department, they’re just being kept safe and sound until their retention period is up.
To arrange for a consult with RMO regarding transferring your materials to PARC, contact us. The delivery and pickup date is currently Wednesday. The price list can be found here.
